Dr. Amos Z. Dai is a fellowship-trained orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon specializing in both surgical and nonsurgical management of foot and ankle disorders. His areas of expertise include the treatment of arthritis, Achilles tendon injuries, ankle sprains, fractures, bunions, flatfoot and cavus deformities, plantar fasciitis, cartilage injuries, and Morton’s neuromas. He is especially skilled in minimally invasive bunion correction, total ankle replacement, and revision foot and ankle surgery.
Dr. Dai completed his fellowship at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, where he trained under nationally recognized foot and ankle specialists Drs. Gregory Guyton, Stuart Miller, Jacob Wisbeck, and Walter Hembree. His advanced training includes ankle arthroscopy, flatfoot and cavus reconstruction, cartilage restoration procedures, and revision surgery.
A Staten Island native, Dr. Dai attended Stuyvesant High School and graduated cum laude from Duke University with a degree in biology. He dedicated a year of service through AmeriCorps with City Year Los Angeles before earning his medical degree at Stony Brook University School of Medicine. During his residency at Stony Brook University Hospital, he was named Academic Chief Resident. He also completed a dedicated research year at NYU Langone Orthopedics, where he published numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts and surgical technique videos.
Dr. Dai’s clinical philosophy is rooted in exhausting all nonsurgical treatments before recommending surgery. He is driven by a commitment to helping patients restore function and improve quality of life, especially when other options seem limited. Outside of practice, he enjoys high-intensity interval training (HIIT), cooking, karaoke, and spending time with his wife, son, and their British Shorthair cat.
