In Loving Memory of Dr. Carlos F. Montero, M.D.
The entire Total Orthopedics & Sports Medicine family is heartbroken by the loss of Dr. Carlos F. Montero, a beloved orthopedic hand surgeon, trusted colleague, and dear friend.
Dr. Montero was part of our TOSM family for many years, and his passing is deeply felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was more than an exceptional physician; he was a kind, humble, and compassionate man who dedicated over five decades of his life to caring for others.

A graduate of the University of Buenos Aires (Class of 1968), Dr. Montero began his medical journey with a deep desire to help others. Over his remarkable 57-year career, he became known for his expertise in hand and wrist surgery and for the compassion he brought to every patient interaction. His steady hands, calm presence, and commitment to doing what was best for his patients earned him the trust and gratitude of countless individuals and families.
The impact Dr. Montero made on his patients will never be forgotten. One of them shared a memory that speaks to who he was, both as a doctor and a person:
“In September 1974, I was in a terrible accident in front of Hempstead General Hospital. When they took me to the hospital, Dr. Montero saved my life and my leg. I will be indebted to him forever. He is a great man.” — Mark Donohoe, November 10, 2021
We were fortunate to have his gentle spirit, wisdom, and dedication guiding our team for so many years. Our practice has lost more than a great doctor; we have lost a cherished friend and an irreplaceable part of our family. We are deeply saddened by his passing and profoundly grateful for the years we shared with him.
To his family, friends, and patients, you have our deepest condolences. Dr. Montero will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all of us at Total Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.
